Medical Commission

With perhaps 40-60 international tests annually against thousands of competitive players, every test must count. Today targeting decisions rely on the commission's institutional knowledge and a few spreadsheets — which players are climbing rankings, which events feed Olympic qualification, which national programmes have integrity flags.

This is opaque to WADA auditors who expect documented test distribution plans. It also misses athletes who climb suddenly between assessments, leaving the highest-risk profile under-tested while routine cases are over-covered.

Anti-Doping Module ingests ranking changes, event participation and performance jumps from the World Rankings and competition results, scoring each athlete on testing priority weighted by event significance, sudden form changes and prior test history. The Player Database surfaces eligibility and TUE status alongside, so test mission orders are produced with full context and the distribution plan is auditable for WADA review.

TUE applications submitted by players and their physicians frequently arrive incomplete — missing diagnostic evidence, dosing details, alternative-treatment justification or specialist letters. The commission then plays email tennis for weeks, sometimes missing competition deadlines and forcing a player to withdraw or compete uncovered.

Worse, an approved TUE that does not meet WADA's standards can be retroactively voided after a positive test, turning a clean athlete into an Adverse Analytical Finding case. The administrative burden is enormous relative to the small physician team.

TUE Workflow guides player and prescribing physician through WADA's required fields, attaches mandatory medical evidence, validates completeness before submission, and routes to Medical Commission reviewers with translated supporting documents. Decisions, expirations and renewals are tracked with automatic reminders.

Approved TUEs sync to ADAMS so the WADA-recognised record is never out of step with the federation copy.

ADAMS is WADA's authoritative system, but federation-level player data, TUE records and sanction outcomes must reconcile with it. Today this happens via manual entry by NADO officers and federation staff, producing duplicates, version mismatches and missed updates.

A whereabouts violation recorded in the federation system but not in ADAMS becomes a WADA finding against the federation rather than the athlete. Medical Commission staff spend hours each week on data reconciliation that adds zero clinical value.

ADAMS Integration provides bidirectional sync for player records, TUE decisions, test results and sanctions through the official WADA APIs. Whereabouts updates entered by athletes in their app propagate to ADAMS within minutes; sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Commission appear in ADAMS without re-entry.

Reconciliation reports flag any divergence so the Medical Commission acts only on real exceptions.
