The competitive player plays 25-50 tournaments a year, holds a federation licence, often a regional ranking position, and treats pétanque as a second occupation around work or studies. They are not professionals — sponsorship is occasional, prize money irregular — but they care deeply about results.

They train 2-4 times a week, follow the national circuit, travel for major opens and qualifiers, and consume statistics, video and tactical content actively.
